Tinkering EU: Building Science Capital for All<\/strong>

“Tinkering EU: Building Science Capital for All” is a European project with international collaborations, using the innovative educational approach “Tinkering” to develop 21st century skills. and the Science Chapter for young people from disadvantaged social groups.<\/p>\n

“Tinkering” is an innovative educational approach that introduced the Exploratorium to San Francisco. It promotes the construction of knowledge in the context of the construction of personal artifacts and gives participants the opportunity to “think with their hands” in order to understand and develop skills useful throughout their lives. The Science Chapter draws on the work of Pierre Bourdieu and encapsulates the various influences that a young person’s experiences can have on their scientific identity and participation in science-related activities. It offers a different perspective on science education and engagement and is a powerful tool for developing active citizenship, employment and social participation.<\/p>\n

The European project “Tinkering” is addressed to students from 8 to 14 years old (Primary and High School), teachers and museum workers, with the following activities:
\n\u2022 “Tinkering” activities in museums and then classroom work.
\n\u2022 A series of seminars for teachers and museum workers.
\n\u2022 An electronic publication, which will analyze the relationship between “Tinkering” and the Science Chapter.
\n\u2022 A reflection tool for teachers to examine the impact of this project on their work.
\n\u2022 Various communication actions at local, national and European level.
\n\u2022 A European community with practices focusing on the use of “Tinkering” and Science Capital.<\/p>\n

The project is the continuation of ‘Tinkering: Contemporary Education for the Innovators of Tomorrow’, funded by the first Erasmus+, which implemented the innovative educational approach of “Tinkering” at European level, with activities and resources to adults and trainers, formal and informal educational institutions.<\/p>\n
