Virtual Interviews: The heroes of science<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In the foyer of NOESIS, outside the entrance of the Planetarium, you can discover the life and work of Nikola Tesla and Konstantinos Karatheodoris. In this interactive exhibit, the visitor experiences a virtual interview with the great scientists – in their physical size – and seeks answers to many questions about their life and work.<\/p>\n

Nikola Tesla was a Serbo-American inventor and engineer. Discovered and patented the rotating magnetic field, which is the basis of most AC motors. He also developed the three-phase transmission system of electricity. In 1891 he invented the Tesla coil, an induction coil widely used in radio technology.<\/p>\n

Konstantinos Karatheodori, in addition to his very important contribution to the scientific fields in which he dealt, also offered remarkable work in the field of culture. Responding to a request from Eleftherios Venizelos, he undertook the organization of the universities of Thessaloniki and Smyrna, having similar experience from the organization of the Technical University of Berslau.<\/p>\n

In science centers such as NOESIS, interactive exhibits rely on creating a relationship of participation and play to achieve the deepening of the visitor and the understanding of more difficult or abstract concepts. The interactive medium or exhibit unfolds to its user, after he has invested mentally and emotionally in his interaction with it. NOESIS is interested in the interaction between the visitor and the technological or mechanical system of an exhibition, mainly in terms of how the user perceives the “response” of the system. This presupposes that each action involves intention and critical thinking and is not just about pushing a button, but the ability to control a system or an environment with the ultimate goal of the freedom to determine the experience by the visitor.<\/p>\n

The project was implemented by NOESIS, in collaboration with the company Digital Innovations https:\/\/din.gr\/<\/a><\/p>\n

It was funded by the “Digital Culture” action of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.<\/p>\n
