Greek-French scientific meeting
\nTuesday, November 14, 2023, 16:00-20:00<\/p>\n

The issue of water management in the conditions of the climate crisis is the topic of the Greek-French Scientific Meeting organized, within the framework of the 1st Science Festival, by the French Institute of Thessaloniki in collaboration with the NOESIS Science Center, the Faculty of Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) and the support of EYATH.<\/p>\n

The recent catastrophic floods in Thessaly, the torrential rains that hit France and the unprecedented images of flooded Italian cities at the end of last October are tangible proof that the climate crisis is present. The Mediterranean basin is particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, with increasingly extreme and unpredictable weather events putting significant pressure on available water resources.<\/p>\n

The French Institute of Thessaloniki took the initiative to invite water experts from Greece and France, in order to explore the critical challenges faced mainly by Mediterranean countries, to present the latest technological developments, but also aspects of public water management, focusing on policies and good practices that can contribute to effectively and fairly addressing these challenges. It is a reflection of the ongoing cooperation between scientists from the two countries, exchanging views and submitting proposals for concrete solutions for a more sustainable future.<\/p>\n

The event will be divided into two parts, the first entitled “The climate crisis and water risks” and the second entitled “Responses : Sustainable proposals and solutions”, followed by a discussion with the audience.<\/p>\n

This meeting takes place in the framework of the 1st Science Festival, whose mission is to exchange knowledge between researchers and citizens, highlight the work of the scientific community and encourage young people to get involved in science. For this reason, certificates of attendance will be given to students and young researchers.<\/p>\n
