{"id":26481,"date":"2024-09-06T11:49:25","date_gmt":"2024-09-06T08:49:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/wheels-in-orbit-i-cycling-between-planetssunday-22-9-2024-2\/"},"modified":"2024-09-23T12:35:39","modified_gmt":"2024-09-23T09:35:39","slug":"wheels-in-orbit-i-cycling-between-planetssunday-22-9-2024-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/en\/wheels-in-orbit-i-cycling-between-planetssunday-22-9-2024-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Wheels in orbit I &#8211; Cycling between planets!\nSunday 22.9.2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A pioneering action for Greece<\/strong> is co-organized by <strong>NOESIS,<\/strong> the Cycling Athletic Club of Thessaloniki (<strong>PATH)<\/strong> and the Association of Friends of Astronomy (<strong>OFA),<\/strong> under the auspices of the <strong>Municipality of Thermi<\/strong>, bridging <strong>landmarks and spaces and highlighting them, through sustainable mobility,<\/strong> in another&#8230; dimension.<br \/>\nWith the slogan <strong>&#8220;Cycling between the planets!&#8221;<\/strong> The cyclists, who will participate in the event, will travel the route from the central square of Thermi to the northern entrance of NOESIS.<br \/>\nAlong the route, the Sun and 3 planets of our solar system will be placed as landmarks (in scale): Mercury, Venus and Earth, with the latter located in Thermi Square and the Sun in the sphere of the NOESIS planetarium. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/troxoi-afisa-teliki.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-26475 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/troxoi-afisa-teliki.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1241\" height=\"1754\"><\/a>The co-organization is implemented based on an idea of PATH<\/strong> and is expected to contribute to the further recognition of the Planetarium as a landmark, as well as to the promotion of both the architectural value of the building and the area of Thermi.<br \/>\nDuring this special journey between the&#8230; planets, cyclists will stop at the intermediate landmarks, so that with the support of OFA <strong>they can see the &#8220;exhibits&#8221; and understand the meaning of their scaled dimension.<\/strong> For the safe conduct of the event, <strong>measures will be taken by the Thermi Traffic Police<\/strong>, either to stop the traffic of vehicles at the time of the event, or to escort traffic policemen along the entire length of the route that has been planned.<br \/>\nAt the finish point, at NOESIS, <strong>there will be bicycles of special interest<\/strong> (mountain, road, electric, etc.), where members of PATH will inform the attendees about the advantages and the correct way to use each model.     There will also be <strong>a solar telescope for observation<\/strong>. In an adjacent area, a traffic education track will be formed, where representatives of PASTH will <strong>offer traffic education lessons to children<\/strong>, but also to older bicycle users. <strong>And for space lovers, there will be a lecture<\/strong>, lasting 20&#8242;-30&#8242;, related to the theme of the event, in a room provided for this purpose by NOESIS.<br \/>\nAll participants in the cycling route will have the opportunity to:<br \/>\n<strong>for a 50% discount for attending -on the day of the event- a show at NOESIS.<\/strong> The program is addressed to both adults and minors  <strong>  (&gt;8 years old) accompanied by their parents.  <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Participation in this action is FREE<\/strong>, as it has an educational and cultural character and is offered by the co-organizers to the community, on the occasion of the celebration of Car <strong>Free Day<\/strong> in the context of promoting <strong>Sustainable Mobility.<\/strong> The event <strong>will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2024<\/strong>, starting at 11 a.m. and starting from&#8230; Land in Thermi Square and finish at&#8230; Sun, in the realm of the Planetarium.<br \/>\nTo see the route click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/viewer?mid=10WU4BzioBNY57YQUT3hkeOK73gFmzIQ&amp;ll=40.556796176635714%2C23.007310499999996&amp;z=15\">here<\/a>.
