{"id":26975,"date":"2024-09-20T10:48:44","date_gmt":"2024-09-20T07:48:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/researchers-night-at-noesis-27-9-2024\/"},"modified":"2024-09-30T07:39:51","modified_gmt":"2024-09-30T04:39:51","slug":"researchers-night-at-noesis-27-9-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/en\/researchers-night-at-noesis-27-9-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Researcher&#8217;s Night at NOESIS 27.9.2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NOESIS Science Center and Technology Museum participates in the largest pan-European celebration of science and research, the Researcher&#8217;s Night.<br \/>\nThe aim of the events, which take place on the last Friday of each September in many European cities, is to introduce the public to researchers and their scientific work.<br \/>\nThis year, in the framework of the HORIZON program of the European Union entitled PICO (Physics for All), a Researcher&#8217;s Night will be organized, on Friday, September 27, 2024, at NOESIS participating as co-organizer.    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/457064936_122113225844458700_6890429710642848364_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-26977 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/457064936_122113225844458700_6890429710642848364_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1448\" height=\"2048\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/457064936_122113225844458700_6890429710642848364_n.jpg 1448w, https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/457064936_122113225844458700_6890429710642848364_n-119x168.jpg 119w, https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/457064936_122113225844458700_6890429710642848364_n-243x343.jpg 243w, https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/457064936_122113225844458700_6890429710642848364_n-768x1086.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/457064936_122113225844458700_6890429710642848364_n-1086x1536.jpg 1086w, https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/457064936_122113225844458700_6890429710642848364_n-1200x1697.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/457064936_122113225844458700_6890429710642848364_n-750x1061.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.noesis.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/457064936_122113225844458700_6890429710642848364_n-1140x1612.jpg 1140w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1448px) 100vw, 1448px\" \/><\/a>The aim is to inform the public on Physics and Astronomy, while the event will be held simultaneously in four countries (Greece, Italy, France and Spain), with the participation of leading European scientific bodies.<br \/>\nOverall, the participating institutions are: \u2022 Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (coordinator) \u2022 National Observatory of Athens \u2022 Ellinogermaniki Agogi \u2022 EUROPEAN GRAVITATIONAL OBSERVATORY (EGO) Italy \u2022 ISTITUTO NAZIONALE DI FISICA NUCLEARE (INFN) Italy \u2022 Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) France \u2022 \u0399nstitut De Fisica D&#8217;altes Energies (IFAE) Spain The common theme of the Evening, addressed to all ages, will be the many applications of Physics in everyday life and the modern discoveries of astronomy.<br \/>\nAcross Europe, Researcher Night is organised in 23 countries and 400 cities.<br \/>\nIn Greece, the PICO Project organizes a research night, apart from Thessaloniki and in Athens (Athens Observatory, Penteli \u2013 Athens Observatory Visitor Center, Thissio \u2013 Ellinogermaniki Agogi, Pallini) as well as at the Observatory of Stefani, Corinth.<br \/>\n<strong>The activities<\/strong> This Researcher&#8217;s Night will last from 17:00 to 23:00 and will include very interesting activities, such as: &#8211; Exciting interactive experiments and simulations &#8211; Demonstration of impressive aerospace constructions &#8211; Creative activities for young children &#8211; Participation of citizens in research projects &#8211; Book draw &#8211; Saturn observation starparty with telescopes The individual activities are organized by various research groups and laboratories of the School of Physics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Gravitational Waves, Relativistic Astrophysics, Theoretical Mechanics and Astrodynamics, CERN, Nonlinear Circuits and Complexity, Optics and Spectroscopy, Atmospheric Physics, Nanotechnology and Didactics of Physics).<br \/>\nAlso, three student groups of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki will participate with interactive experiments and demonstrations (ASAT, BEAM\/ASTRO, PATH).<br \/>\nFinally, the Department of Physics will present its undergraduate and postgraduate programs of study and will inform about the many different professional prospects it offers.<br \/>\nThe evening observation will be carried out with portable telescopes of the Association of Friends of Astronomy of Thessaloniki (OFA) and with portable and robotic telescopes of the Aristotle University Observatory.<br \/>\nMore information about the PICO Project can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/picoproject.gr\/\">https:\/\/picoproject.gr\/<\/a> website, while the detailed program of the Researcher&#8217;s Night is available on <a href=\"https:\/\/picoproject.gr\/researchersnight\/\">https:\/\/picoproject.gr\/researchersnight\/<\/a> page.
