AI TALKS #2 in Industry
In the 2nd discussion held recently, the opportunities and challenges of Artificial Intelligence in Industry were at the forefront.

The Deputy Minister of Development, Anna Mani Papadimitriou, was present, who described artificial intelligence as the driving force of the 4th industrial revolution and spoke of a challenge and a huge opportunity. “The challenge is to utilize this technology in an ethical and responsible way and at the same time to prepare our human resources to cope with a rapidly changing world,” he said, underlining that “our country is at the forefront of these changes.” He added that the prime minister himself places particular emphasis on the goal of further increasing Greece’s attractiveness as an investment destination for high technology. For the same goal, as the Deputy Minister said, the Ministry of Development is also working.

The President of the Hellenic Federation of Industries (SBE), Loukia Saranti, stressed that artificial intelligence has entered our lives, however, its penetration in industry remains at a low level, as -as she noted- the financial tools are inadequate.

The President of the Exporters’ Association-SEVE, Simeon Diamantidis, stressed that export companies are forced to proceed with the digitalization and operation of artificial intelligence in order to cope with international competition, while the company’s President and CEO, Giorgos Mylonas, spoke about the use of artificial intelligence at Alumil, presenting good examples starting from Thessaloniki.

The Vice-Rector for Research & Innovation of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Kyriakos Yakinthos, referred to the role of Universities. “We want to have graduates who will be able to utilize artificial intelligence, deal with problems from it and evaluate its results,” he said, while the President and Director of the Central Directorate of CERTH, Dr. Dimitrios Tzovaras.

Greetings were addressed by the President of NOESIS, Dr. Stella Bezergianni and the Deputy Regional Governor for Digital Governance of the Region of Central Macedonia, Nikos Tzollas.
