3rd International Conference on Ancient Greek and Byzantine Technology

Starting from the value of scientific research and faithfully serving the goal of promoting it and spreading historical knowledge about the technological achievements of the Ancient Greeks up to Byzantium, the Society for the Investigation of Ancient Greek and Byzantine Technology*, organises together with the Science Dissemination Center and Museum of Technology – NOESIS*, the 3rd International Conference on Ancient Greek and Byzantine Technology, from 19 to 21 November 2024.
The Conference, which is under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, is addressed to Archaeologists, Historians, Engineers, Chemists, Technologists, Scientists and Educators, from Greek and foreign Universities, Research Centers and Services, who are engaged in the research and study of Ancient Greek and Byzantine Technology. During the three-day Conference, which will be held at the Athens Concert Hall and for the first time will be broadcast simultaneously at the NOESIS Amphitheater, scientific papers related to Ancient Greek Technology from the beginnings to the Byzantine times will be presented and the recent findings of international scientific research in this field will be highlighted. More specifically, and according to the organizing and scientific committee, which are composed of distinguished, experienced and renowned scientists and personalities, the Conference will be developed in 12 thematic sessions, covering a wide range of technologies that touch all aspects of human life, development and well-being.

It should be noted that NOESIS operates the Museum of Technology, with three permanent exhibits, one of which hosts the exhibition Ancient Greek Technology, unique in its kind, covering the period from the prehistoric period to the Hellenistic and Byzantine times.
