International Museum Day 2023
Museums, Sustainability and Quality of Life

By highlighting cultural and natural heritage, as well as contemporary creation, museums contribute substantially to improving the quality of life and can play an important role in shaping a sustainable future, through educational programs, exhibitions, local actions and research.

In 2023, International Museum Day will focus on the following topics included in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
– Goal 3: Global health and quality of life.
– Goal 13: Action on climate change.
– Goal 15: Life on Earth: protecting biodiversity.

With the theme of this year’s celebration, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) wishes to highlight the role and power of museums to contribute to achieving the goals of sustainability and improving the quality of life of society as a whole.

NOESIS, serving the goals of sustainability and sustainability, was built with bioclimatic design. These principles, as well as respect for the environment and scientific knowledge that can tackle climate change, are also incorporated into its educational activities, such as educational programs “Explora‘ and ‘En-climatology» and in scientific films, such as “Earth’s climate” and “The Ocean Odyssey”, screened at the Planetarium and the Cosmotheatre respectively. Also, soon, the theme park ” ECOZOO” on biodiversity will be ready for the public.

NOESIS celebrates and participates in International Museum Day, highlighting once again its multifaceted character, which makes it unique.

Why NOESIS is a Museum
With three permanent exhibitions that highlight and promote technology and its achievements: The Exhibition of Ancient Greek Technology, the Exhibition on Transport Technology and the Technopark, an experiential science “playground” for young and old.

Why NOESIS is a vehicle for the dissemination of Technology and Science
With unique and original educational workshops, addressed to elementary and secondary school students, but also to older children, it “introduces” students to science and its modern trends. At the same time, with actions such as the temporary exhibition Connected and the annual Student Conference on Computer Science, it creates a permanent focus for the transmission of scientific knowledge.

NOESIS celebrates and participates in this year’s International Museum Day 2023, on Thursday 18/5, with the following activities:
Free entrance to the Museum of Technology and the temporary exhibition Connected (open until 19.30).
Free screenings at the Planetarium of the film
“Earth’s climate”,
